The Match Cup 2018/19 Final was concluded today with a battle between Helen Kelly and Ian Morno. With handicaps equalling out it was a battle off the stick with no course par to consider. Heat was a problem at 40 degrees but nothing these legends couldn’t handle.
The match started with Helen taking an early 3 up lead. Ian fought back to be 1 up with 1 to play. But as the golfing gods gave thy glimmer of hope, they soon tooketh away, with Helen drawing the match up on the 18th and winning the first hole of sudden death.
Helen becomes the first lady to ever win the Match Cup with the Match Cup until 2 years ago was a men’s only event. We have had great success with the format introduced in 2017 as an all year round event and we hope you all can be apart of the format in the coming season.
