Sandy Creek Golf Club is host to the the Australian Women’s Senior Championship this week.
The Australian Women’s Senior Amateur Championship is open to players aged 55 years and over. It is a Golf Australia Order of Merit event. Players contest 36-holes qualifying, with the leading 16 players progressing to elimination match play. The leading eight players in four separate age divisions also qualify for age flights. A Welcome Reception is held on the evening of the second qualifying round, with a Presentation Reception held on the afternoon of the final day.The first Australian Women’s Senior Amateur Championship was played in 1987 for players aged 50 years and over. From 2007, players had to be 55 years and over to be eligible to participate.
